Stan James were acquired by Unibet in late 2015, but little has really changed. Their look and odds remain the same which is what we like to see, if is good to have variety in the betting world. Stan James will not attract you with their offers, but rather their odds (a far more sustainable model in my opinion), so if your focus is on matched betting then you will probably breeze by fairly quickly but if you genuinely like a bet with prices that are regularly very competitive, then you are likely to stick around. The issue that I have with Stan James is they that have a fairly low tolerance for winners, but if your stakes are not monumentally high then you should avoid the dreaded account closing email!
Just a note here about Skrill & Neteller. Most bookmaker hate them but Stan James really hates them. In their deposit terms and conditions they write this:
“By using Skrill (formerly known as MoneyBookers) to deposit funds into your account, you agree that you will wager the entire value of the deposit on Stan James’ products. In the event that you choose not to wager the entire value of the deposit on Stan James’ products or in the event that your account is closed by Stan James in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, you agree that Stan James may recover from your account balance the full cost incurred by Stan James of processing your deposits and withdrawals.”
The first part to this, where you do not wager the full amount of your deposit is fairly standard, but the second part is not. You see, Skrill is traditionally the method of choice for arbers and bonus hunters and as I have already touched upon, Stan James does not take favourably to those sets of people. As you will see below, if you use Skrill thentyou can forget any kind of bonus. If you have another deposit method available then I recommend using that.

Place a bet of at least £10 bet at odds of 4/5 or greater and receive a £20 free bet
The free bet will be credited within 24 hrs of the qualifying bet being settled (so beware when betting an event that will not be settled for a while)
The relevant bet is your very first bet so be careful!
As is standard, the free bet stake is not returned as cash, you only receive the winnings from any free bet placed
Deposits from Skrill and Neteller do not qualify for the offer
Free bets must be placed within 7 days of award
Offer only available to residents of UK and Ireland
Over 18’s only
Best Odds Guaranteed
Take an Early Price (EP) or Board Price and if the Starting Price (SP) is bigger they will pay you at the bigger price. Applies to UK and Irish Horse races.
If you take a price that subsequently drifts in the market but goes on to win, you will get paid at that higher price. This offer is standard among mainstream bookmakers and I would go so far as to say that if it is not offered then you should place your racing bets elsewhere.
Place an acca with 5 legs or more on match betting (team to win in 90 minutes) and they will refund losing bets where only one leg lets you down, up to a maximum of £25 as a free bet. Available for 1 acca per day and bonus funds will expire if not used within 7 days. At least one leg must contain a Premiership game and your language must be set to English UK (!). Any account with Skrill or Neteller as a registered deposit method will not qualify
Not the best of the ACCA offers, but at least they don’t specify a minimum odds threshold. Make sure that you have ticked every box if you are after the potential refund as I imagine it would be pretty easy to forget the set your language to UK English (why they have this condition I have no idea).
Is there nothing else??
Nope. Not at the moment anyway although they will have various refund offers throughout the year which are impossible to describe in their entirety here as terms and conditions change from offer to offer. Stan James aren’t really in it for the offers though…
