Review
You may have noticed a little bit more of Betfred than in previous years on your high street due to the fact that they picked up a large number of cut-price Coral and Ladbrokes shops from an enforced sale resulting from the merger of those 2 bookmaking giants. As a bookmaker in their own right they have been slowing growing after purchasing the Tote in 2011 (totesport.com has identical odds to betfred), and have made a concerted effort through advertising to be more in the betting public’s minds. Their odds are fairly standard, and their promotions are nothing to boast about but they are fairly tolerant to winning punters, which is an important positive, and are a useful bookmaker to have in your portfolio.

Opinion
This is Betfred’s headline offer and you may well have seen it promoted on various media advertisements. But is it any good? Well as long as their odds for first goalscorer are around the market average, and no bookmaker has a better offer for first goalscorer then definitely (there is also some statistical analysis that would need to be done involving the probability of a player scoring more goals once he has scored the first, but as I am yet to find figures we will have to leave it at that…to be updated!). But this is the issue, in all first goalscorer markets that I looked at, their odds were not competitive, it is as if they have discounted them to compensate for the offer. The conclusion that I draw is that this offer only serves to make their poor odds on this particular market a little bit more appealing.
Best Odds Guaranteed
Take an Early Price (EP) or Board Price and if the Starting Price (SP) is bigger they will pay you at the bigger price. Applies to UK and Irish Horse races.
Opinion
If you take a price that subsequently drifts in the market but goes on to win, you will get paid at that higher price. This offer is standard among mainstream bookmakers and I would go so far as to say that if it is not offered then you should place your racing bets elsewhere.
Football Acca insurance
Place a football acca with 5 legs or more on any Match Betting market and they will refund losing bets where only one leg lets you down, up to a maximum of £/€25. Each leg must be placed at odds of 1/5 or greater
Opinion
This Acca insurance offer falls right in the middle of the those also reviewed. Whilst the lack of restriction are great (no leagues restricted, available to place more than 1 per day), they still fall behind Will Hill in the refund amount. If your acca is £25 or lower, however, this offer becomes very appealing.
